This workshop introduces participants to the cutting-edge convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) in interior architectural design, with a focus on redesigning selected interior spaces. The purpose is to equip students with practical, future-forward methodologies that leverage AI for spatial analysis and generative design, and then utilize VR for immersive visualization and testing. Key themes include AI-driven renovation strategies, generative spatial configurations, atmosphere and materiality studies, and the integration of digital tools within traditional design workflows. Using platforms such as Midjourney, Prome AI, NanoBanana and Rhino and VR-enabled visualization tools )—along with on-site documentation—participants will investigate the current performance of interior spaces and generate optimized alternatives for circulation, layout, furniture design, and visual identity. Professionally, the workshop addresses a rapidly expanding trend in the design industry: the use of AI as a co-creator in architectural decision-making. As firms increasingly adopt automation and machine-learning tools for ideation and visualization, the ability to collaborate with AI has become a critical competency for designers. Offering this workshop is particularly valuable as it bridges academic learning with industry innovation.
