Cooperative AI-Powered Technologies for Intelligent Vehicles Era

The rapid global advancement of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) and AI-driven mobility systems has created a strong demand for engineers and researchers capable of designing, integrating, and validating intelligent decision-making algorithms. CAPTIVE workshop is designed to provide participants with a hands-on, application-oriented introduction to AI-enabled autonomous driving using scaled autonomous vehicle platforms. Building on the success of the first edition Summer 2025, in this year's version of CAPTIVE we focus on the end-to-end development of cooperative and intelligent AV systems, guiding participants from perception and decision-making to low-level control. The workshop adopts a three-level processing architecture perception, intelligence, and actuation allowing participants to design, implement, test, and iteratively tune AI-powered algorithms while directly observing their impact on vehicle behavior in real time. Key themes include AI-based perception, decision-making under uncertainty, cooperative vehicle intelligence, sensor integration, and closed-loop control for autonomous systems. By emphasizing learning through experimenting, the workshop bridges the gap between theoretical AI concepts and real-world autonomous vehicle implementation. Academically and professionally, CAPTIVE addresses the growing need for multidisciplinary skills at the intersection of AI, robotics, and intelligent transportation systems. The workshop responds to emerging trends in AI-driven autonomy, cooperative intelligent vehicles, and cyber-physical systems, making it highly relevant to students, researchers, and early-career professionals. Offering CAPTIVE within the AI Connects program provides participants with practical, future-ready competencies essential for next-generation mobility and intelligent systems research and development.
