GIU Berlin is located only 200m away from the U-Bahn station “Borsigwerke (U6)”, hence providing a direct link to the famous street “Friedrichstraße” and the touristic area of Checkpoint Charlie.

The campus is conveniently located in the beautiful district of Alt-Tegel close to the Tegeler See (lake), the second largest lake in Berlin. The eastern side of Tegler See leads to a harbor known as Borsighafen, which was the landing pier for the once-famous Borsigwerke (Borsig works). Symbol of the Borsigwerke, the Borsigturm (tower) opened in 1925 and was the first high rise building in Berlin. Historically, the area hosted factories producing steam engines and locomotives as well as refrigerators, marine steam engine and steam plows.

Today, a modern shopping center “Hallen am Borsigturm” has been built at the former factory site. Located just around 500 meters away from the GIU, it hosts many renowned retail shops, bakeries, cafes, restaurants and a large supermarket, offering a variety of shopping and dining options in walking distance to the campus.
